Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation         – 2 Corinthians 5:17-18

When I am down, this verse encourages me. What a wonderful God and Savior we have who, in some in some perfect holy righteous way, makes the past as though it never happened and gives me a fresh start.

According to His Word, we are to become new creations. That means the old me is supposed to die and I am to change into something new. If I am going to change,  I have to submit to Him so He can do the changing work. Ephesians 2:10 says “…we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus…” Once true believers have surrendered to God in confession and repentance, He reveals the things about us that displease Him. Things He wants to change. It’s part of the “old things passing away so everything can be new”. The next thing we must do every day until it becomes a habit is this:

We must submit to every change that God wants to make in our lives. We have to humble ourselves even more and ask God to remove  the defects of our character and personality. 

Jesus taught us why this is so necessary in Mark 7:20-22 when He said that what comes out of a man, (sin) is what defiles him. Evil thoughts from his heart produce every kind of evil and sin.

Here is the real truth about people:

Everything we do, or don’t do, is controlled by our feelings. Our feelings are controlled by our thoughts. And our thoughts are controlled by our mind. So, we have to change our way of thinking, and that requires a renewed Mind. We’re going to spend several days looking at why a renewed mind is so important. But for now, I want to leave you with this scripture to read and pray about:

COLOSSIANS 1:21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled.
